The Retreat Bag is a roomy zippered bag with a wide base and structured opening. There is a casing in the top where you insert two wire frames (one on each side), which helps it stay open when open, and helps turn the corners down when closed. It has two optional slip pockets inside and a long zipper that helps it open wide.

In this class we use the original pattern by Emmaline Bags (which you can download for free from Emmaline).

SMALL: Length - 8 1/2" x Height 5" x Depth 4"

LARGE: Length - 11" x Height 6 1/2" x Depth 7 1/2"

EXTRA LARGE - 11" x height 10 1/2" x Depth 7 1/2"

REQUIREMENTS  : are approximate and generous.

Exterior Fabric: Wash bag size = 1 FQ - Exterior fabric (quilting cotton, or similar weight fabric recommended), (large = 1/2m ) (extra Large = 1/2 m plus 1/2m for contrast  )

Lining fabric: Wash Bag = 1/2m (quilting cotton recommended) (Large = 1/2m ) (Extra Large = 1m )

Woven Interfacing: Wash bag = 1m (Large = 1m ) (Extra Large = 1 1/2m)

Fusible Fleece: Wash bag = 1/2m (Large = 1/2m of bag foam instead of fleece) (Extra Large = 1/2m of bag foam instead of fleece)

(2) Internal Wire Frames: Style A for this Small bag, Style B for Large and Extra Large

(1) 16” size 5 Zip : closed end nylon zipper (or 16” of zipper tape, or a longer zipper can be cut down.) (Large = 22") (Extra Large =22" ) 

(4) bag feet for large and extra large versions

Notions & Tools:- Thread to match all fabrics

- WashAway Wonder Tape or similar double-sided wash away tape 1/4” wide, or fabric glue for zipper attachment (both optional)
- Water-soluble Erasable Marking Pen, or Chalk Pencil
- Scissors, Rotary Cutting Tool, Cutting Mat, and Large Ruler or measuring tape
- Zipper foot & Walking foot (optional) for your sewing machine
